During the summer, my wife and I live at the Wilds Christian Camp in Brevard, NC (www.wilds.org). We work in the "Junior Boot Camp" program with Tim Meals. Every week, about 230 junior age (3rd-6th grade) boys and girls come to the Wilds' Junior Boot Camp. We love camp ministry. God saved me at camp. God brought my wife and I together at camp. It's a good thing to come away from the "norm" of life for awhile, to be surrounded by God's beautiful creation, and to be saturated with God-centered preaching and teaching. It's a no-brainer, folks.
I'm on "program" staff here which basically means I help facilitate the program. Some weeks I also have the privilege of speaking. This year I began teaching all new chapel messages. The theme of these messages is "Big Christian Words." I have four opportunities to speak, so I cover four "Big Christian" words:
- Tuesday = DEPRAVITY ("I am wicked and I need God!")
- Wednesday = REDEMPTION ("To be rescued through a great purchase!")
- Thursday = SANCTIFICATION
- Friday = GLORIFICATION
I'm concerned about the children learning solid theology. I strive to take meaty doctrinal truth and make it understandable and memorable for young people. I am going to try and post these messages and their corresponding PowerPoint files to this blog later this summer. It is vital that we teach boys and girls solid Christian doctrine! This is the heartbeat of my life and the reason Kids 4 Truth was born.
The Wilds has been a true blessing to the Kids 4 Truth ministry over the years. They have allowed me great freedom to highlight the Kids 4 Truth materials with all the sponsors. Many churches currently using Kids 4 Truth began as a result of visiting the Wilds and learning about Kids 4 Truth there.
