    imageI 'm reading Iain Murray's biography on Jonathan Edwards and I discovered that Edwards had a reading list like so many of us have, too. I'll wager though that he got through more of his list than we'll ever get through on ours! smile_regular

    Iain notes about Edwards' reading habits: "There are 452 entries in all on religious books and these have been divided as follows:

    • Church History - 62
    • Bible - 33
    • Works - 17
    • Sermons - 37
    • Theology - 279"
  • Which Song Lyrics Define Your Life Best?

    Song #1

    And now, the end is near;
    And so I face the final curtain.
    My friend, Ill say it clear,
    Ill state my case, of which I'm certain.
    I've lived a life that's full.
    I've traveled each and ev'ry highway;
    And more, much more than this,
    I did it my way.
    Regrets, I've had a few;
    But then again, too few to mention.
    I did what I had to do
    And saw it through without exemption.
    I planned each charted course;
    Each careful step along the byway,
    But more, much more than this,
    I did it my way.
    Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
    When I bit off more than I could chew.
    But through it all, when there was doubt,
    I ate it up and spit it out.
    I faced it all and I stood tall;
    And did it my way.
    I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
    I've had my fill; my share of losing.
    And now, as tears subside,
    I find it all so amusing.
    To think I did all that;
    And may I say - not in a shy way,
    No, oh no not me,
    I did it my way.
    For what is a man, what has he got?
    If not himself, then he has naught.
    To say the things he truly feels;
    And not the words of one who kneels.
    The record shows I took the blows -
    And did it my way!

    Song #2

    God moves in a mysterious way
    His wonders to perform;
    He plants His footsteps in the sea
    And rides upon the storm.

    Deep in unfathomable mines
    Of never failing skill
    He treasures up His bright designs
    And works His sovereign will.

    Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
    The clouds ye so much dread
    Are big with mercy and shall break
    In blessings on your head.

    Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
    But trust Him for His grace;
    Behind a frowning providence
    He hides a smiling face.

    His purposes will ripen fast,
    Unfolding every hour;
    The bud may have a bitter taste,
    But sweet will be the flower.

    Blind unbelief is sure to err
    And scan His work in vain;
    God is His own interpreter,
    And He will make it plain.

    Song #1 is "I Did It My Way" popularized by Frank Sinatra

    Song #2 is "God Moves In A Mysterious Way" by William Cowper

  • Devotionals-in-Audio

    One of my favorite parts of all that we produce here at Kids 4 Truth are the "It's All About God" daily devotionals. http://devos.kids4truth.com. One reason I enjoy them so much is because I only wrote a few of them and I much prefer to read other people's writings. It has taken a team of about forty people from all over the world to make these daily devotionals "happen."

    One of the new features we added this past year to the Kids 4 Truth website was devotionals-in-audio. They've proven to be relatively popular and well received. I would like to publicly thank three individuals that volunteer their time and talents to make the devotionals-in-audio a reality:

    IMG_00311. Alan Behn. Alan is the narrator of the devotionals. I've seen and heard him in action as he dramatically reads the devotionals and it is a thing of beauty! His voice is nigh unto perfect for delivering these devos to young listeners.

    IMG_00252. Jason Gerdt. Jason is the recording engineer. He is a Mac user. Jason and I were junior camp counselors one summer together. We slept in tee-pees and changed our names. He was Blackhawk and I was Big Timber. (Do I hear laughing?)

    3. Denny Gillen. Denny is charge of putting the "bumper" audio and the final uploading of each file to the appropriate "spot." In other words, he's the nuts-and-bolts guy that makes sure it all works. Denny is also the father of the Kids 4 Truth Technical Lead, Rob Gillen. We know where Rob gets it from.

    We couldn't do this without you guys. Thank you, men!

    We are also thinking of publishing these devotionals into book format. If you would be interested in this please let us know. If the response is mild to overwhelming it may help us to get the proverbial "ball rolling."

    If you would be interested in submitting a devotional or two, please email Joy McCarnan at joy@kids4truth.com.
